Championship Rules
Points - We have 5 championship meetings with 3 rounds to count towards the championship positions. You score points for finals only with the winner of the A final getting 100 points 99 points to second place etc. If the championship is tied then we will use the number of final leg wins (or highest positions in finals) from your counting meetings to decide it.
Practice - Practice will be availble from 07:45 till 08:30 on the Sunday mornings.
Drivers Brieifing - Will happen at 08:40 and is compulsary for all drivers!
Qualifying - We will have 3 rounds of Qualifying with round by round to be used. Your best 2 point posisiotn finishes from the 3 rounds will be added together to give you an overall position. TQ gets 1 point in the round, 2 to second etc.
Finals - We will have 2 Leg finals for all drivers. Your best single leg will be counted to give you your finishing position. Tie breaks will be decided on the fastest final time.
Tyres - We will have a control tyre (TBA) and we will be limited to 1 set of NEW unmarked tyres per meeting. Tyres will be marked after you race in scrutineering if they are not already marked. Records will be kept in scrutineering of how many sets have been used. You can use old sets from earlier in the series (at later rounds) which have already been marked. Absolutely no tyre additive allowed. If we mark the floor then we have to replace it. You are allowed to use brake cleaner etc but you must have completely dry tyres at all times. Anyone found using tyre addittives of any sort will be asked to leave the premises. If you are in doubt please ask in race control/scrutineering. We will have provisions available in race control if you damage a tyre/wheel etc.
Tyre warmers - Are allowed but are not allowed onto the racing track area. There will be an area next to the rostrum to keep your tyre warmers.
Marshalling - Marshall the heat after your own. If you fail to marshall on time you will be given a warning. If you fail to make the marshall post for the duration of the race then you will loose your best time from qual or best final score dependent on when the incident happens. Being late for a second time will also result with you loosing your best time from qual or best final score dependent on when the incident happens. A third time will be disqualification from the meeting. If you cannot marshall for medical reasons please let race control know. IF you are under 12 years of age then the club will find a marshall for you.
Driving Standards - The BIWS organisers will not tolerate any deliberate bad driving. This includes hiting cars from behind when lapping/passing. Please be polite when faster and slower cars are around you. We will have a referee watching the races but unfortunately they cannot cover all the battles at once. If you feel like there was an incident that happened during the run which was not picked up please talk to race control/referee and they will try to resolve it with all drivers involved. The driving standards are only as good as you make them! We will have a main referee appointed to help.
Bodyshells - Any touring car bodyshell is legal to be used and you can cut it our/mount your wing anyway you like. Please make sure your body does not rub on the floor whilst in use or you may be asked to stop and raise it by the referee/race control. Please make sure your bodyshell is presented neatly and is structurally sound.
Concourse - We will have a concourse competition at every round when the finals are being sorted. Prizes will be announced on the day.
Scrutineering - We will be checking for weight and that you have the correct tyres mainly. We may also do some spot checks on motors etc. Please follow the spirit of the rules as we want to have fun. You must bring your car to scrutineering after you race and you can leave it with your transmitter there until you return from marshalling.
Tyre Regulations - You do not need to pre mark your tyres. Your tyres will be marked after you run them. You are only allowed to use 1 set of unmarked tyres during each meeting. Any unmarked tyres will be treated as your NEW set regardless of their condition. This means you do not HAVE to buy new tyres if you dont want to but could run a scrubbed set if you like. If you arrive in scrutineering with a second set of unmarked tyres during the day your last races time will be disqualified. This series is aimed at keeping the level fair and consistent for everyone and LOW COST :)
Installation laps - You may drive to the start line from the designated car setting down area. This must not be done at full speed and you must never go the wrong way around the track. No racing speed laps are allowed. You are not permitted to cross the loop before the start unless instructed to, doing so may result in a penalty like starting last in the heat or for repeat offenders not being allowed to compete in the race.
